Submission Guidelines and Conditions
Submissions are invited for:
* Individual papers (30 minute oral presentation)
* Symposia (1.5 - 2 hours)
Individual Papers
Submissions are invited for papers reporting original research findings, papers reporting work-in-progress, methodological papers, policy analyses, case presentations, professional practice issues and/or evaluations of family service programs.
Symposia
Symposium submissions should propose a set of closely related papers on a particular topic, the content of each paper, and the names of a convenor and a discussant. Each symposium will usually consist of 3 to 4 papers followed by a discussant responsible for drawing together themes, coordinating discussion and directing questions from the floor to particular speakers.
Except where time constraints for any reason have been advised at the time of submission, presenters are expected to be available to present their work between 9.00am and 5.00pm on any of the dates scheduled for the Conference. Presenters will be advised of the outcome of their application and the draft schedule in due course.
Abstract submission is via the Submit Abstract links provided above. Information to be submitted on-line includes:
- full contact details of submitting author
- title of presentation and name/s and 100 word biographical sketch of each author
- relevant theme and presentation type
- 250 word abstract - no embedded graphics, tables, footnotes or references
Abstracts accepted for inclusion in the Conference will be published in the Conference Handbook and online exactly as submitted and should be checked for accuracy prior to submission.
Faxed or hard copy submissions cannot be accepted. All abstracts must be submitted and presented in English. If you are unable to submit your abstract online, please contact the Conference Organisers on (03) 9682 0500 to discuss alternate arrangements.
Submission Conditions
The acceptance of an abstract presentation does not constitute an offer to pay travel, accommodation or registration costs associated with the Conference. No speaker's fee is paid to successful applicants. Presenters of accepted abstracts are required to register for the Conference.
By submitting an abstract, you grant the Organisers permission to publish the abstract in the Conference handbook in hard copy and in electronic format on the Conference and Institute websites. The Organising Committee’s decision on acceptance of proposals will be final.
If you are uncertain about how your proposal might relate to the Conference, please contact the Deputy Director, Research, at the Australian Institute of Family Studies on (03) 9214 7888.
